Outreach Programs at Ridgewood Ridgewood United Methodist Church members are active in a variety of Outreach Programs that benefit not only other church members, but the community as well. Most of these positions are volunteer positions staffed by congregants who willingly and lovingly offer up their time to do something nice for someone else. If you are interested in volunteering with any of these programs, please contact the church office for information at (440) 885-1360. If you are in need of any of these services, please let us know and we will do our best to assist you. The Stephen Ministers are a group of trained persons from our congregation who have developed their gifts for caring and desire to offer their help and support to others in time of need - not only in our church family, but to the whole community. The Stephen Ministers are caring Christian friends who offer a listening ear to help others through the tough times in life. To learn more about this ministry, click here. Church Bus: Here at Ridgewood United Methodist Church we understand that it is hard for some people to make it to church on Sundays. For those of our congregants who have difficulty with mobility, or cannot drive anymore for whatever reason, the church van is available to pick them up on Sunday mornings for worship service. We are always in need of volunteers willing to drive our church bus. If you are interested in participating in this aspect of our ministry, please call the church office at (440) 885-1360. The Caring Dinner is held bi-monthly on the third Saturday of that month at 1:00 pm. The dinner is free to all senior and needy citizens in our community, and we also deliver meals to our shut-ins on this day. The meals are cooked and served by church volunteers and are absolutely delicious every time! Both the volunteers and dinner guests have a wonderful time sharing in each other's company. All the excess food is taken to St. Herman's Homeless Shelter afterward. Click here for the upcoming Caring Dinner schedule. Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN): The Interfaith Hospitality Network is a national program that provides housing for local homeless families. Our church participates in this outreach ministry and house several local homeless families participating in the program for a week about four times a year. This program relies heavily on volunteer involvement for its success. Click here for more information on IHN. Headstart Volunteers: Headstart Volunteers meet on the third Tuesday of every month at the church to plan and prepare projects for preschool children in Head Start. Visitation Volunteers: In an attempt to reach our shut-ins who still take an active interest in our church and would like someone from the church to visit them, the Outreach and Health Ministry committees have developed a volunteer visitation ministry. Training sessions for participants in this program are provided periodically - please call the church office if you are interested in attending training. Ridgewood Friends: Ridgewood Friends is a group of church members who offer to donate time to help make life a bit easier for others in our church family. These volunteers offer help with rides, running errands, shopping, small chores, visitation, taking someone to the doctor, or bringing a meal to someone just home from the hospital. There is no minimum time commitment required, no meetings to attend, and new "Friends" are always welcome! Contact the church office for more information. The Prayer Chain consists of persons within our congregation who volunteer to add those in our church in need of prayer to their own daily prayers. Click here for more information on the Ridgewood Prayer Chain.
